Challenge the status quo!
Welcome to our 10th episode where we will talk about…
Challenge the status quo
I am about to tell you is the story of Elon Musk. Yet I won’t talk about his stock prices going up and down, or why his electric car is so awesome. I will talk about one thing he shines. You guessed it “Challenging the Status Quo”
Challenging the status Quo is, yet another misused,over-hyped, over-abused word that when understood well can change the world. Elon, amongst other things, did it great in 3 things. Paypal challenging the banking system, space X challenging the multimillion-dollar space industry and tesla challenging the car industry.
Challenging is only the beginning
Challenging what is regarded as “normal” because it has been this way, or it is what it is or it is because it is hard to change is a weird concept. It is weird because the moment you start changing what is “normal” it puts you in a position of “not normal”. Now you are out there by yourself(and with your team) trying to change something that has been there, being used and with the purpose of really making it better for everyone.
Now again although may sound easy but it is one of the most difficult things you can imagine. Let’s go back to Elon’s work. Instead of writing it I’ll just share a great infographic from Kickresume which explains this:
So challenging the status quo may sound like a great phrase but it is never a walk in the park.
- It will bring failures
- It will bring a lot of enemies (Really)
- It will need an unstoppable belief in what you are doing and what you want to change.
- It will bring a lot (A LOT) of sleepless nights, stress, problems
- It will need a great team with the same qualities as you
- It will need you to sacrifice your relations, your job, your personal life
- Nobody will care about how you challenged it until you changed it
- Nobody will remember you or what you tried if you don’t ever achieve it
Challenging the status quo amongst other things needs a big heart, courage, and dedication.
Are you ready for the challenge?
